In early 1997 Leaders and Members of Special Forces Association "Richard J. Webber Memorial" Arkansas Chapter XLIX wanted to help raise funds for the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Museum. So a plan was put into action and approved by Special Forces National to lead a marathon walk from California to North Carolina, including SFA chapter participation across the country. Besides raising funds, the walk would be in honor of Col Aaron Bank (Ret) known as the "Father" of Special Forces. On 1 Oct 97 the walkers from Chapter 49 left Arkansas and headed for Los Angeles, California to meet up with other SFA chapters to begin the walk from CA to NC. On 5 Oct 97 the walk officially began and on 12 Dec 97 and 2,640 miles later Chapter walkers finished the walk in NC. Six (6) members and supporters from SFA Arkansas Chapter 49 walked from coast to coast.
